Quick: Set your machine to Slip

Week 1 Challenge

March 2021

Quick!
Set your machine to Slip

Slip (or Skip) stitch is a basic function of all machines. If you have an automatic patterning machine (punchcard or electronics) or a manual machine, with the right settings, you can knit slip.
When knitting slip, certain needles do not knit and the working yarn travels UNDER the  needles.

Slip not only creates beautiful textured stitch patterns, but these settings are also basic for many techniques.

Over the next few weeks, we will challenge you to explore slip on your machine

Take the challenge
Can you do this?

1. Slip for I-cord (Slip Cord)

2. Slip for Free Pass (pass the carriage with no yarn without dropping stitches)
