meet Nine-Fourtee

Hi !

We have a new addition to the Knit it Now machine collection!

Our new 930/940 has found a new home here in Phoenix.

She needs a name. Am I the only one who names her machines? :o)


The Brother 930/940 is a popular standard gauge (4.5mm) machine with 1996 era electronics. The Brother 940 was introduced shortly after with improved memory on the motherboard in the electronics.

Many knitters upgraded their 930 by replacing the motherboard.  My new machine is a grown up 930. Maybe her name should be Nine-Fourtee

We'll be spending the next few weeks exploring this machine and creating a new Course: Brother 930/940.

The course will include:

  • Learn how to operate the basic machine
  • Exercises for all the available stitch techniques (including the lace carriage)
  • Deep dive into the electronics for automatic patterning
  • Master the ribber and all the possibilities of double bed knitting
