Why do you knit?

Sometimes  look around and realize that I'm the only knitter in the room.  None of my nearby friends knit and I get funny looks when I tell people that I teach knitters how to use their knitting machines.

As a young girl, my first sweater was knit with RUG Yarn (because it was cheap) purchased at Woolworths, a five and dime (remember them?)

Even though I finished the sweater, as you can imagine it was a total disaster. What was I thinking?  A yarn made to be walked on for a sweater??? Even then I was a "lone soldier" when it came to knitting.

It's a wonder I'm still knitting after all these years. Thankfully, I've made lots of on-line knitter friends and I've had lots of successes since then.
