I would like to know what is the best yarn to use for double bed jacquard. I have a Brother 940.
I want to branch out from knitting only in stockinette.
I have 3 ply yarn and have heard from different people that it works great....or it's too thick.
can you advise?
thanks,
Rosie

As you already have some yarn which might be suitable, why not just try a sample and see what you think. The fabric you produce will be very thick, but that might be exactly what you want to achieve.

thanks Jenny. This afternoon I was able to knit a double jacquard using my 3 ply yarn. It was very difficult to push the carriage across bed even with a high tension. It can be done but it didn't feel right. I must need a thinner yarn.
thanks.

Many knitters use Yeoman Fifty-Fifty - it's a wool/Acrylic blend that has approx 3515 yards per pound - a good weight for DBJ

Lots of pretty colors too!

If the carriage is hard to push, you need thinner yarn. I usually use 2 or 3 strands of 2/30, 2 strands of 2/24, or 1 strand of 2/17.
