on program dak 8 can you make design of scarf with sleeve or is it just basic sweater

Designaknit is so much more than just basic sweaters - it is a very powerful program with the facility for you to design more or less any shape you like.  Inevitably, because of all that it can do there is a steep learning curve, but it is worth it if you are prepared to take the time to get really familiar with the program.

As Jenny said, DAK is such a powerful program.  
Think of taking a blank sheet of paper and sketching any shape you want ... DAK allows you to create that shape and it "translates" it to knitting terms.

You can then take that shape and add stitch patterning, right within the software.

You might want to watch a few DAK videos to get a feel for how it works
