Hi I’ve made socks for everyone for Christmas but the feedback says that the top of the rib needs to be looser to get the foot in. What sort of rib cast on method would be best ?

If you are using the ribber, use the "broken toe" cast on.

If you are hand knitting, there is an equivalent cast on called Kitchener Cast on.  (you can google it).  It takes a few steps, but creates a really nice, stretchy cast on similar to the standard machine knitting cast on.
