I knit this pattern by hand and when I went to knit the second one, I thought i could do this on the machine (LK150) , surely!  First try-almost followed the pattern exactly (yes I did the swatch to know how many rows to knit!)  Even did the colorwork easily!   And yes,the Icord ties and then the Icord is attached to the brim of the hat, too. I love it when a idea works!

I am trying to make a long stocking hat.  I get as far as the top of the crown, but cannot figure the decreasing correctly.  I want a 32 in tail from there.
I have 147  stitches to decrease to 4.  my gauge is .5 s and 10.5 r to inch.  I have a mental  block today.

Hi Marjorie!

Do I have this right?
You have 147 stitches and want to reduce down to 4 over (32"x10.5 rows per inch = 336 rows)

I used the Magic formula
>Knit ->Tools >Magic Formula sts/rows

https://www.knititnow.com/tools/magicformulabyrow.cfm

Does this make sense for your project?
