To knit multi-color tuck and slip, think of the color changes as if you were knitting stripes.
Because you are holding and slipping stitches, the contrasting colors carry to the rows where you are knitting in the main color, making the beautiful designs
It's really best to try this to understand it. Check your manual for multi-color tuck and slip
The following is a simple multi-color slip.
Knit 4 rows in orange, slipping every 4th needle (you'll have an orange loop slipped (not knit) for all 4 rows
Change colors and knit 1 row in the green (all needles in work)
This row will knit the slipped orange loop
You will then slip every 4th needle (holding a green loop)
When you change to orange, you'll knit that green loop and repeat the sequence
I'm not sure what you mean:
"what if I want to write name on it do you knit two row and change color repeat and buy sinker to catch yarn"
If you want to write a name on something you'll use intarsia methods - search for "intarsia" in the learning Library.
