Is it possible to do short rows at the same time as fair isle with a punch card machine? I have the SK280.

Yes!
Here's a video "Short row in pattern" - the demo is in tuck, but the idea is the same - no matter what stitch pattern, wrapping is the key ... I like to manual wrap,  "Automatic wrap vs Manual Wrap"

O, thank you! I was just feeling a bit unhappy but this should make life much better. I thought all the needles have to be in B-position to prevent messing up the pattern.
