Is there a way to make a sweater smaller.  I am wondering if I could use a sewing machine to sew up the side seams of the garment then cut off the bulk of the seam or would this be too dangerous.  Any suggestions?

Sew 'n Cut is a great way to rescue the sweater.

AKA Cut 'n Sew this technique is often used by machine knitters to shape sweaters.
