I made 3 sets of American Girl Doll clothes – that included sweater, hat, and scarf. I purchased the pattern from Fantasmagorica, which required me to match their gauge – an impossible task! My row gauge matched, but not the stitch gauge – so I needed to do a lot of calculations for the sweater. Thank goodness for KIN’s decrease schedule tool – or I’d still be pulling my hair out over the sleeves. That tool saved me.

Lesson learned on making sweaters for American Girl dolls – they have giant heads! I kept a shoulder seam open (added a Velcro closure) in order to get the sweater on – and it still didn’t fit over the head, but must be pulled on from the feet.

Your sweaters are beautiful, I have a few 18 inch dolls and this year they are all getting new clothes. Like your idea.
