Hi, I love using tuck stitch but always find it difficult to choose a rib because of the way tuck comes out so wide. Just knitted a jumper mixing tuck and stocking stitch so really stuck as to what sort of rib to use. Any suggestions welcome.

Hi Margaret!
You can add stitches to the ribbed section.

For example, cast on 120 stitches and knit in rib.  then decrease evenly across the row to 100 stitches (the number of stitches needed for your garment piece) then continue knitting in tuck.

Make sense?

How about using a 2x2 rib that uses a 2x1 setting? (Main bed: I I . I I . I I , ribber: . I I . I I . , slide lever on H) This way you have 25% more stitches compared to regular 2x2 rib. This is called industrial rib, I think. Or try full needle ribbing, resulting in 1x1 ribs over all needles.
Alternatively, there are rib patterns with tuck such as Fisherman's rib or English rib that look pretty.
I'm not completely sure I'm using the correct names, though.
