Hi!

I just received a new Taitexma 160 & in the process of setting it up I see it has an extra wire loop on the threading mast. (See pic below) Does anyone know what it is for? It isn’t in the video here either.

Thank you!

Too funny! I was watching Sue’s video & there isn’t one on that machine. Must be something new, but it would be nice to know how to use it!

i have never found it necessary to use this on my Brother machines but  the manuals tell you to use it with the contrast yarn when knitting a single motif.

Funny, my TH160 mast doesn't have it.  But my other Brother machines do have it.

Apparently this is called a sub take-up spring.  I found 2 references to this in the manuals.

Thread lace: (not available on the TH160)

Adds more tension to the main yarn when knitting thread lace

@Jenny M Benson is right, it is also used for isolated motifs

Adds more tension to the contrasting yarn.

Well, I thought it was for something like that! That makes sense. The manual for this machine leaves a lot to be desired…so glad you’re here, Sue…& all my other knitting buddies!

I knew you would jump on this & I also thought you would want to know about this for the course. I’m enjoying learning about the machine from your videos! You’re the best!

The tech guy at allbrands said it’s never used & he doesn’t know why it’s on the machine.

New question about the Taitexma T-160
Has anyone found a source for 6 mm garter bars or mini garter bars?
Kris Krafter has 6.5 mm.
