A diamond-shaped or triangular insert in a garment to provide expansion or reinforcement

A godet (gusset, gore) is often used to add flair to knitted garments.
For example, add a bit of flare to a skirt or sideways knit sweater by adding short row sections.

A separate triangle or diamond can also be knit and inserted to provide more width at one edge.
For example, shape the cuff of a sleeve by inserting a separate piece.
