Through the Eyes of a Machine Knitter

This sideways knit kids sweater is easy and knitting and sure to please.
The featured yarn creates "automatic" fairisle with no fuss.
The original pattern used garter stitch for the hems and neckband.
Here are some options for making this machine-knitable..
Cuffs:
  • Hand knit garter stitch and re-hang on the machine
  • ~or~
  • knit a few rows in stockinette and let it roll.
Neckband:
  • Hand manipulate as you knit the body of the sweater
  • ~or~
  • Pick up edges and hand knit garter edge after the body of the sweater is complete
Sweater hem
  • Because this is knit sideways, hand manipulating a few stitches along the hem edge can duplicate the original design
  • ~or~
  • Pick up the hem edge and knit ribbing to finish.
  • ~or~
  • Pick up the hem edge (right side facing), knit a few rows and let it roll.
