The original pattern used garter stitch for the hems and neckband.
Here are some options for making this machine-knitable..
Cuffs:
  • Hand knit garter stitch and re-hang on the machine
  • ~or~
  • knit a few rows in stockinette and let it roll.
Neckband:
  • Hand manipulate as you knit the body of the sweater
  • ~or~
  • Pick up edges and hand knit garter edge after the body of the sweater is complete
Sweater hem
  • Because this is knit sideways, hand manipulating a few stitches along the hem edge can duplicate the original design
  • ~or~
  • Pick up the hem edge and knit ribbing to finish.
  • ~or~
  • Pick up the hem edge (right side facing), knit a few rows and let it roll.
