Seaming Back
Skill Builder Exercises
Hi
The Goal of this challenge
In this challenge you will knit at least 3 samples with seams . Each exercise will use different skills that may be new to you.If they are available, use existing swatches to practice seams, or take time and knit a few quick swatches. Consider trying a new-to-you cast on and/or bind off method to make the most of your practice time.
- Use your needlebed to join seams. This is similar to using a Linker for neat, tidy seams without hand sewing.
- Mattress Stitch: Neatly hand stitch your seams with this popular technique. Done correctly, the seam is nearly invisible on the Public Side of the knitting.
- Joining shoulder seams on the machine is highly recommended. Not only does this create a neat and tidy seam, it provides structure and stability to the shoulder seam. (no saggy shoulders )
I encourage you to study Level 1 of the Knit it Now Success Path.
Level 1 covers most of the basic skills you need for success with your machine and it will put your feet (and fingers ) on the right track towards mastering your machine.
