The curl cord is used to transfer data between the 800 series of Silver Reed Knitting Machines, and DesignaKnit.

In newer machines the curl cord is packaged with the machine. In older models, it was not. This data cord is required when doing interactive knitting with the 800 series of machines.
It is also used to attach Electronic Knitting Machine Carriage to EC1 PE1 PE10.
