Plating is controlled by the feeder carriage. It positions the working yarn to create the technique.
Consider the yarn weight:
When plating, 2 strands are being knit together. Choose 2 yarns that COMBINED total a weight appropriate for your machine. Remember that the 2 yarns together need to fit in the hooks of the needles.
We choosing yarn, also consider the finished weight of the garment.
Knit at a looser tension
Because you are "bulking-up" the yarn plan to set your tension dial 1-2 numbers looser.

Mix 'n Match
Consider:
- Combine a thicker yarn with a thin yarn
- 2 fine yarns together
- A textured yarn with a plain yarn
- A variegated yarn with a plain color yarn

Swatch the same way you would for any other stitch pattern ... you do swatch... don't you???
Threading the carriage for plating can be a bit tricky.
