It is critical to understand needle positions when using this lace carriage. Before operating the carriage MAKE SURE there are no needles in C or D position Although the Lace Arm is reversible, DO NOT exchange the lace arm with the arm regular carriage or ribber arm.

Do not use lace carriage with ribber - drop ribber to the lowest position.
Setting up the lace carriage
Remove the curl cord connector from the regular knitting carriage
Remove the carriage from the needlebed by sliding it all the way to the right
Set it aside in a safe place
With ALL needles in A position Slide the lace carriage onto the needlebed
Pass it back and forth to ensure it's seated correctly
Attach the curl cord
Set the cam lever to "O" (plain knitting)
Pull a few needles to "B" Position and pass the carriage
Push every other needle out of work "A" position.
Set the cam lever to "L"
Pass the carriage slowly and observe the action of the needles
Repeat to get a feel for how the carriage feels when transferring stitches
When passing the lace carriage the first time, it "feels" funny and scary. The needles are being picked up and bent just enough to transfer stitches. If the needles are in A or B position, keep passing the carriage, and it won't jam or damage anything.
