Insert the latch tool in the loop of the stitch in the row below
Pull the machine needle all the way out - putting the stitch behind the open latch
Pull the machine needle back, dropping the stitch. Don't worry, because you've secured the stitch below with the latch tool, the dropped stitch won't run
Un-knit (loosen) the stitch and free the strand
Place the stitch that is on the tool behind the latch and place the un-knit strand in the hook of the tool
Pull back on the tool, closing the latch over the strand
Continue to pull back, pulling the strand through the stitch, forming a new stitch
Position the new stitch behind the latch of the tool and place the hood over the hook of the needle on the machine
Lift up on the tool, sliding the new stitch over the machine needle
Notice the knit stitch that is facing you ... the purl bump is now on the opposite side
