Intarsia Practice

Practice with 2 colors to create a colorblock sample.
- Practice different techniques for neat, clean joins.
- Practice "milking the cow" for neat edges.
- Knit at least a few inches to get a feel for the rhythm of knitting intarsia on your machine.
Row 1: White
Carriage: RIGHT
Needles in working position: RIGHT 20 needles
- With WHITE, knit from RIGHT to LEFT.
- Remove yarn from the feeder and secure it under the needles.
- Pull all needles to "D" hold position.
- Free pass to position the carriage on the RIGHT.
Row 1: Blue
Carriage: RIGHT
Needles in working position: LEFT 20 needles
- With BLUE, pass the yarn over the needles in hold.
- Knit from RIGHT to LEFT (right needles are in hold).
Row 2: Blue
Carriage: LEFT
Needles in working position: LEFT 20 needles
- With BLUE, knit from LEFT to RIGHT.
- Cross the blue and white working yarns.
- Remove the BLUE yarn from the feeder and secure it under the needles.
- Pull all needles to "D" hold position.
- Free pass to position the carriage on the LEFT.
Row 2: White
Carriage: LEFT
Needles in working position: RIGHT 20 needles
- With WHITE, knit from LEFT to RIGHT.
Repeat these rows until you get into the rhythm of the intarsia pattern.
