A tuck is a stitch that is not knitted, but looped over the needle. If we tuck over the same needle for a number of rows, the loops gather on those needles, instead of knitting. This creates raised bundles. When the bundles are gathered and knit, the fabric is distorted from plain knitting, resulting in texture.
The fun comes in various needle arrangements alternating with plain knitting. Tucking while alternating colors and even tucking with needles out of work.
The yarn and the tension play a role in creating beautiful tuck patterns.
